LITERACY ADVOCACY

Especially after writing my two novels, I’ve quickly learned that the ability to read is a skill that is crucial and should be given to everyone. More than anything, I wanted to endow that ability to other children across the world, despite social or economic status. That’s why I partnered with Worldreader to raise $3000 to give an Anganwadi school in India access to a digital library of 500 books. This includes training for the teachers. All proceeds from my books, some documentary prize money and other donations from that period of time went towards my goal. And after two years, I have recently achieved my goal during the summer of 2022. It makes me so happy to have provided those students in India with those materials and that love of reading, that I, too, was able to enjoy at a young age.
