Working with Advisors and Mentors Dr. Lisa Fortuna---the UCR Chair of Psychiatry---and Dr. Michelle Porche doing paid qualitative research for a confidential social services project, targeted at supporting youth mental health.

Diving deeper into the exploration of the human brain in order to better understand the functions of the different lobes and other components of this complex organ. Participating in the National Brain Bee competition, collaborating and discussing case studies, movies, and other media, as well as making models, talking to professionals, and partaking in volunteering and fundraising through outside neuroscience-related organizations.

Created and lead a Bring Change to Mind Anti-Stigma Club chapter to spread awareness and destigmatize mental health throughout the school through activities and workshops. TAB is a group of 20 students from across the California club region that partakes in many activities to promote the youth voice inside and outside of Bring Change to Mind.

Worked to promote, destigmatize, and advocate for the mental health of the youth in Mountain View while unifying youth and adult perspectives on mental health. Participated in panels to educate adults and clinicians on better ways to serve youth. Collaborated to create a mental health library book resource section for youth.

One of the three Editors-in-Chief for my school’s yearbook and newspaper staff, and managed, delegated, and organized the 30 students in my class. Led the remaining 60 kids in the other two classes for various assignments outside of class hours.

Founder and President of a peer-to-peer, anti-stigma club at my middle school which eventually had 40 members by the end of my 8th grade year. When I left, I made sure the club was still sustainable and it is still active today.

Anchor and Director for one of the five morning broadcasting announcements teams. I led 7 to 10 of my peers to write scripts, record, edit, and broadcast live, without missing a day. We went on to win the “Top Broadcasting Team” award from the school in my 8th grade year.

Worldreader Champion

Worldreader

Partnered with Worldreader to raise $3000 to give an Anganwadi school in India access to a digital library of 500 books. This includes training for the teachers. All proceeds from the two novels I wrote and documentary prize money went towards my goal, which I achieved in August 2022.
