BC2M SAC Dialogue Spotlight
Thanks to Pamela Harrington, the BC2M Executive Director, in October of 2022, I was spotlighted as a youth and Bring Change to Mind Club Leader in Bring Change to Mind's Scientific Advisory Council's new dialogue series, Stigma, Personhood, Context, and Culture: Humanization and Inclusion for All. I shared the impact my Mountain View High School BC2M club has on my school campus to 100 professors, scientists, and mental health advocates who strive to raise up the youth voice around mental health.
UCSF Psychiatry Prizker Building Opening
In October of 2022, I spoke in at the UCSF Psychiatry Pritzker building opening about the youth mental health voice and my journey with my UCSF mentors. I also met and talked with several of the UCSF Vice Chairs, as well as the UCSF Chancellor.
MVLA Challenge Team Keynote
In May of 2022, I did the keynote speech at the Mountain View-Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Challenge Team 35th Annual Youth Champions Breakfast. Mrs. Gay Krause, the leader of the Challenge Team, has been a great friend of mine ever since the beginning of my mental health advocacy, and gave me this opportunity to speak to over 150 educators, police officers, and community members.
SF Commonwealth Club Panel
Thanks to Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, a Psychology Professor at UC Berkeley and the Vice Chair for the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, in January of 2022 I was invited through UCSF to speak as the only youth voice on a SF Commonwealth Club Panel about the youth mental health crisis during and after the pandemic.
C-SPAN StudentCam Award Acceptance Ceremony
After I earned first place for middle schoolers in the C-SPAN StudentCam documentary competition for 2022, C-SPAN contacted my school to create an acceptance ceremony for me in May of 2022 in front of my 8th grade class.
KCI's SELebrate Learning! Event Presentation
In October of 2021, I did a presentation for local educators and administrators at the Krause Center for Innovation’s SELebrate Learning Event, thanks again to Mrs. Gay Krause.
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony Speech
My 8th grade speech took place during the Isaac Newton Graham Middle School 8th Grade Promotion for the Class of 2022 on June 2nd. I was one of the three students chosen out of the 40 who tried out to give this speech.
Bay Area Book Club Interviews
A couple of years ago, I was given the opportunity to interview several amazing authors for the Bay Area Book Festival. In May of 2020, I spoke with Innosanto Nagara and Nikki Shannon Smith about their books and messages of justice for all. And in June of that same year, I interviewed Ian Lendler about his middle-grade book on the history of dinosaurs.
